CAST
Frank
Explosive, alluring, and dangerous, Frank is a man on the run. He left behind a young son and a number of felony convictions in Brooklyn and has been evading both for years. The mother of his son, Loretta, is the only lasting relationship of his life and that is relentlessly carnal and tumultuous. He’s tired of running and has come to a place in the woods by a brook that he calls home. The bones and blood of his family are in the soil here and he has come to stay.
John
An old school innkeeper and a doorway to a different time. He is both formal and friendly but never overly familiar. He anticipates the needs of his guests and responds with calm and efficiency. While serving wine he tells the story of the burial ground beneath the inn and the vineyard that has sprouted from this soil. Legend has it that through the wine many generations of people who died on this lot still remain alive. True or not, John is the only one with the answer.
Loretta
She’s also running, but, she’s running after Frank. Her whole adult life has been chasing him from one hidden location to another. She wants him to come back to Brooklyn, raise their son, and be the head of the family, but she knows this is futile. He responds with sexual game playing, violence, and abuse. Something in her enjoys this routine and almost thrives on it. She knows which buttons to push and she gets the response she anticipates each time. She loves him and hates him but she can’t bring herself to walk away.

The Cabin
Danny
Danny’s father died recently. A drunken car accident on a lone country road. Danny fled Los Angeles to return to a place where he spent his childhood, the woods of Western Massachusetts where he has now inherited a parcel of land by a brook next to an old inn. Fresh from his father’s death, he needs solid ground, a place where he can attain a sort of re-birth. Just before he leaves LA, he meets Tina and sparks fly. He takes a chance and decides to bring her to the woods, to a place he now calls home.
Tina
An actress from Los Angeles, Tina meets Danny in a dark theatre watching a David Lynch film. Fresh from her own family tragedy, she decides to join Danny on his journey home to the woods by the inn. Theirs is a new, untested, and delicate relationship that needs time and tranquility to prosper. Meeting Frank and Loretta at the bar destroys that scenario entirely. As Danny becomes more engrossed in his encounter with Frank at the bar, Tina feels separated, left alone in a remote inn set back in the woods three thousand miles away from everything she’s ever known.
